Unvanquished Grief- A Poem

Unconscionable anguish

How to recover from the baby that never cries

Legs that will no longer walk

Addiction that won’t go unfed

The heart that won’t restart

Creativity stalled

Flowers blooming with sympathy

I’m so very sorry that happened to you

And I pray to God it never happens to me

It did once

And then I died a little

Pain ripping through ribs

Unvanquished ravaged faithless grief

Stripped to nothing

What mattered two hours ago

That which changed, changed everything
